MNEMONIC STORY: The month of June has 30 days in it. Imagine an intelligent, 30-year-old parrot named JUNE at an animal show talking and doing SIMPLE ROUTINE tricks. You are amazed at how vast her FIFTY-WORD vocabulary is. Her sentence structure isn’t perfect, but she can SAY A VERB WITH ANOTHER WORD and loves to say, “Birdie talks… Birdie talks.” She can also FLIP PAGES IN A BOOK HER POINTY BEAK ONE PAGE AT A TIME. She correctly NAMES HER OWNER AFTER SOMEONE POINT AT A PICTURE HIM IN THE BOOK. She also points at a picture of herself in the book and says, “LOOK.” When asked who that is, she recognizes the only ONE COLOR she knows (green) and says, “ME” and JUMPS WITH TWO FEET. She lands on a table and starts to PARALLEL PLAY with another parrot. You are impressed by her ability to do some SIMPLE PROBLEM SOLVING after you see her follow a TWO-STEP COMMAND by her owner. He says, “TAKE OFF YOUR HARNESS BY HERSELF and TWIST OPEN THE LID FROM A JAR WITH YOUR BEAK.” She does it! The jar is empty, but June and her owner have some PRETEND PLAY. The owner pretends to take a treat out from the jar and June pretends to accept the imaginary treat. You and the crowd go wild!
